Metro Data, Inc. has been awarded a contract (# MHCC-02-004) by the Maryland Health Care Commission (MHCC) to develop, host, and support the web-based Maryland Long Term Care Survey.  The new "web-based" system replaces the former process of distributing the survey on CD-ROM media.  This is the first time in MHCC's history that any similar large-scale data collection process will be performed over the Internet!

About the Maryland Health Care Commission

The Maryland Health Care Commission (MHCC) is an independent regulatory agency whose mission is to plan for health system needs, promote informed decision-making, increase accountability, and improve access in a rapidly changing health care environment by providing timely and accurate information on availability, cost, and quality of services to policy makers, purchasers, providers and the public. The Commission's vision for Maryland is to ensure that informed consumers hold the health care system accountable and have access to affordable and appropriate health care services through programs that serve as models for the nation.

NOTE - During its 1999 session, the Maryland General Assembly enacted House Bill (HB) 995, (Chapter 702, Acts of 1999, now Health-General Article §19-101, et.seq., Annotated Code of Maryland), which consolidated the duties and responsibilities of two existing health regulatory and policy-making bodies, the Health Care Access and Cost Commission and the Maryland Health Resources Planning Commission, into the Maryland Health Care Commission.

About the Maryland Long Term Care Survey

The Maryland Health Care Commission releases the annual Maryland Long Term Care Survey during the first quarter of each year. The survey collection period runs for 60 day. The reporting requirements of the Maryland Long Term Care Survey are specified in the Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR 10.24.03). Under those regulations, providers are required to submit accurate, timely, and complete data needed by the Commission to support planning for long term care services. This data is used to update the Consumer Guide to Long Term Care, develop the State Health Plan, determine the need for additional capacity, and assess the financial health and performance of the industry. To comply with Maryland law, facilities must have their survey accepted by the specified due date.

Robert "Bert" Orlitzky, President of Metro Data, Inc. states "We're very pleased to have the opportunity to continue to work with the MHCC, and particularly to increase our level of support and expertise that will help MHCC accomplish its mission."
